Airports in Egypt

This topic is one of the most interesting topics on which I would like to throw light. I would like to srart saying that airports have important roles as follows:
  1. For a city to attract and retain corporations with national and global ties — as well as talented people to work for them — efficient, functional airports that are easily reached will be increasingly important.

  2. Airports are very important as they help people to travel by planes that are considered the fastest means of transport.

  3. Airports have very important role in economy as they contribute in tourism.

From what I have mentioned above, I can say that whatever I spoke about this topic I could not cover it. So, i'm going to talk about some of them.

No. 1Cairo International Airport

Airport Location:

Cairo International Airport is the busiest airport in Egypt and the second busiest airport in Africa after OR Tambo International Airport in South Africa. Egypt's busy Cairo Airport annually serves more than 11 million passengers from all over the globe. Located 22 km / 14 miles north-east of Cairo, the famous Egyptian capital, Cairo International Airport (CAI) lies directly east of Al-Matariyah, Al-Zaytun, Heliopolis, Hilmiya and Matariya.

Passenger Services:

Built during the mid-1940s and serving American Allied Forces, Cairo International Airport was soon used for civil aviation purposes after the end of the Second World War. The overall facilities within the terminal were improved and commercial flights both to and from Cairo were encouraged. Following considerable growth at Cairo Airport, two further terminals have been built, in 1986 and 2007, with the original terminal being fully modernised and now used mainly by EgyptAir. Terminal "1" serves passengers traveling within bounds of Ukraine. In the terminal there are comfortable waiting room (first floor), toilet (ground floor), currency exchange points, domestic flights information desk and airline offices. Cozy cafes and car park are located close to terminal "1". Terminal "2" serves passengers from foreign flights. In the terminal there are varieties of shops, cafe and bars, offices of airlines, travel agencies and banks, business center and Internet access, luggage facilities. Duty-free shops and restaurant are located on the first floor. Terminal "3" serves VIP passengers. Terminal is located to the right from terminal "B". There is car park close to the terminal. In the VIP terminal at your disposal there are cozy lounges, telecommunication facilities, conference and banquet rooms. High level of servicing, kindness to client's wishes and benevolence are guaranteed.

Airport Shopping:

Next to Arrival Hall 3 in the original Terminal 1, the new AirMall is a large shopping centre, where all your needs will be met. Further duty-free shopping at Cairo Airport is available in Terminal 2, along with a good restaurant situated between both arrivals and departures.

No. 2International Hurghada Airport

Airport Location:

The airport is located inland, 5 km (3 miles) southwest of the downtown of the city of Hurghada (El Dahar district). It serves Hurghada, the center of Red Sea Governorate of Egypt, seaport city Safaga and a lot of amazing Red Sea beech and aquatic sports resorts: Al Quseir, Sharm El Naga, El Gouna, Al-Mahmya, Soma Bay and Makadi Bay.
Passenger Services:
There is only one terminal in the Hurghada airport and car parking is located just outside the terminal. It is possible to get to the city or to the hotels by taxi or piblic transport (minibuses). In the terminal there is the various infrastructure necessary for satisfaction of requirements of taking off and arriving passengers: restaurants and cafe, changes, phones and post office, shops of souvenirs and essential commodities, a left-luggage office, the VIP-lounge, car rental office. There are no business facilities at the airport but it's possible to use conference and meeting facilities at the resort hotels which are located only in 5 minutes by car from the airport.
Airport Shopping:
Hurghada airport suggests wide range of shopping possibilities before flight. A lot of souvenir shops are located at the terminal. There are also duty free shops at the departure zone selling parfums, alcohol and confectionery products with great discount.

Airport Location:

Mubarak International Airport is a new airport serving Sohag which is located in the Sohag Governorate of Egypt. The airport is located 25km south of the city. The facility is designed to handle approximately 3.5 million passengers per year.

Passenger Services:

The passenger terminal building is designed with a unique Pharaonic design, consisting of two international halls for arrivals and departures, a VIP hall, duty-free shops and security facilities. The facility includes it own electricity, water, sewage and communication stations in addition there is a parking area capable of handling 400 vehicles and 25 buses. The airport's sole runway is 3km in length and 45 metres wide. The airport can receive aircraft as large as the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737. The apron is designed to handle 6 aircraft, with plans to expand this to accommodate 14 aircraft. The new airport is the fifth international airport in Upper Egypt after Luxor, Aswan, Assiut and Abu Simbel. The airport will primarily cater for domestic travel and traffic between Sohag/Upper Egypt and the Gulf states including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

I think that airports are very important as they help people to travel by planes that are considered the fastest means of transport. Airports have very important role in economy as they contribute vastly in tourism. Airports are easilyto reach for anyone. In the the few years coming, airports will be increasingly important.
